Who Am I

Faith
Success
Relationships

My relationships with family, friends, mentors, students, and colleagues are something I strongly value.  My successes and personal growth has truly been a product of those who have invested in me.  Looking back, the most valuable support I have received these past years have been from the relationships I have built and their trust in my character.

I know I can overcome any trial I have faced in the past or will face in the future because of my relationship with God.  Moreover, my faith not only provides me strength and comfort but also direction.  Moreover, my faith not only provides me strength and comfort but also direction.  I believe God wants the best for every person and my role in cultivating purpose within others not just fulfills my own goals but also His plans for me.

Success for me means obtaining security in all aspects of my life.  Attaining a higher education, becoming financially stable, and achieving my professional and personal goals are all a part of what I believe will make me feel secure and therefore successful.  Being successful for me is not just about making a lot of money but growing holistically and becoming content within all aspects of my life.  By doing so, I believe I will feel truly at peace with who I become.

Discovery
Service

Throughout my interactions with student affairs professionals, I have seen them volunteer their skills and service for my own benefit. Therefore, whether it is feeding the homeless or mentoring inner-city youth, I will continue to serve others as a means of paying that service forward.

Discovery means life-long learning through any means available.  The pure joy of learning about the unknown is often taken for granted.  I believe the minute I stop pushing myself to discover new things will be the day I will lose a lot of my passion for what I do.

My Personal Values

The best way to excel is to try to find new and improved ways to practice student affairs.  Just within this century, the role of student affairs professionals have changed dramatically.  I want to work and be a professional that is committed to being innovative and adaptable to the world we live in today.

Passion is so important in my professional life because my mentors were passionate about their work.  I want to inspire those around me and continue to be inspired as well.  By remaining committed to involving myself professionally in what makes me passionate will help me stay devoted to my professional purpose.

In order to serve the most students in the best way, I need to know who I am working with and how to best utilize their strengths. Building relationships with my colleagues and working with them to produce the best work is how I intend to impact students positively.

Advocating for diversity and inclusion in a college setting is very much a part of my work as a student affairs professional and thus must be a significant professional value for myself and others. I want to work for individuals that not only encourage the awareness and appreciation of difference but also openly celebrate it.

Achievement means working hard to excel despite of the expectations of others.  I have the capability of truly changing lives and by doing more than what is expected of me, I will further benefit students.
